Scott's Great Divide Ride

Since July 25, I have ridden more than 2,000 miles from Jasper, Alberta, Canada, to southern Colorado.

I’ve ridden the spine of the Rocky Mountains, crossed the Continental Divide, and traveled through Alberta, British Columbia, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and now Colorado. Only New Mexico remains.

Much of this riding is done in isolation. The views are stunning, and the nightly stargazing is beyond description.

Yet God is with me.

“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.” — Psalm 139:7–8

I have ridden through barren, windy desert basins, crossed ice fields, summited passes above 11,000 feet, and spent days in the wilderness. Through it all, God still sees me, hears me, and knows what I need—all while holding the universe in His hands.

Each day, I ride in awe of His creation—the creatures, the colors, the landscapes, the incredible creativity woven into every detail. It is truly stunning.

And it is a privilege to witness it.

But this ride is about more than the miles.

I am intentionally taking on the demanding terrain and route to bring heightened awareness to youth gun violence, which CDC data identifies as the leading cause of death among U.S. children and teens under 18.
